Why I Wrote This Ebook
As soon as I began investigating the issue of website speed optimization, I realized that almost all materials available online belonged to one of the two types:
Either highly technical and hard for beginners to understand; or
Merely generic recommendations without examples of how things were improved in practice.
And neither satisfied me.
I wanted a complete process to be described:
What was the initial state of affairs?
What issues were identified?
What improvements were made?
What helped?
What didn’t help?
But above all, what can be learned from the experience?
Since I failed to find the material to meet my needs, I created it myself.
It Started with a Score of 53
But when I first tested my site using PageSpeed Insight on SimplySansu.com, the score was very low for me.
It is a common mistake among most webmasters that enhancing the loading speed of a website is quite an easy task.
It isn’t.
There are always new problems appearing.
A problem related to Pagespeed brought me to caching.
Caching led me to LiteSpeed Cache.
LiteSpeed Cache gave me a reason to investigate QUIC.cloud.
QUIC.cloud gave way to image optimization.
Then came WebP format, cron jobs, CDN configuration, DNS settings, and so forth.

Why Website Speed Matters
However, my first test on PageSpeed Insight on SimplySansu.com returned a pretty poor score for me.
A widely held notion by most webmasters is that increasing the loading speed of a website is a simple process.
Not true at all!
New issues come out regularly.
An issue concerning Pagespeed introduced me to caching.
Caching made me acquainted with LiteSpeed Cache.
From there, LiteSpeed Cache introduced me to QUIC.cloud.
And then from QUIC.cloud, I started exploring image optimization techniques.
From image optimization comes WebP, cron jobs, CDNs, DNSes, etc.
