AI is becoming part of almost every digital marketing workflow. But if your company had additional budget specifically for AI, where would you invest first? Would you put it into content creation, SEO and AI search visibility, paid advertising, or data-driven marketing? Vote and share your reasoning in the comments. I’m curious to see where marketers and business decision-makers believe AI can deliver the most value. Simply reply with the option you would choose and briefly explain why.

About the Poll

This poll was conducted by Simply Sansu and received 165 responses from business leaders, founders, marketers, and industry specialists.

To reach a diverse audience, the poll was shared across multiple platforms and professional networks, bringing together perspectives from people with different roles, experiences, and viewpoints.

Two event-related responses were also included in the overall response count.

Note: Percentages may not total exactly 100% due to rounding.

Let's build some suspense!
And the winner is... SEO & AI Search!

With a commanding lead over the other categories, it has emerged as the clear favorite among respondents.

Why SEO & AI Search Stood Out

1. Search Is Changing

Customers are increasingly using ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews to discover information and brands, making AI search visibility increasingly important.

2. Visibility That Compounds

Unlike paid campaigns, SEO can deliver lasting visibility by attracting organic traffic and potential customers over time.

3. It’s Not About Producing More AI Content

Businesses need technically sound websites, original insights, and useful, well-structured content that search engines and AI systems can understand and reference.

4. AI Search Can Strengthen Other Channels

Strong search visibility can support content marketing, brand awareness, inbound marketing, and paid campaigns.

5. The Competitive Advantage

Brands that build digital authority and visibility across traditional search and AI platforms can gain an advantage as customer discovery evolves.

What Businesses Should Consider Before Allocating Their AI Budget

The responses suggest that businesses should not allocate AI budgets based simply on what is trending. The right investment depends on where AI can solve a real business problem and create measurable value.

  1. Identify Marketing Gaps: Invest in AI where it can solve real business problems.
  2. Understand Customer Behavior: Prioritize the channels where your customers discover and engage with brands.
  3. Think Long-Term: Focus on investments that deliver lasting value.
  4. Strengthen the Foundation: Ensure your website, content, technical SEO, and data are AI-ready.
  5. Measure Business Outcomes: Track leads, conversions, revenue, and visibility.
  6. Keep Human Expertise Involved: Combine AI capabilities with human judgment and industry knowledge.
  7. Align Investment With Business Goals: Choose AI solutions based on your business model, marketing priorities, and growth objectives.

My Takeaway

The poll results suggest that businesses are looking beyond AI-powered content creation and automation. They are beginning to recognize the importance of being visible wherever customers search for information, whether through traditional search engines or AI platforms.

My view is that SEO and AI Search deserve attention, but they are not the right investment for every business. The priority should be identifying where AI can address the biggest marketing gap and deliver measurable value.

AI tools alone cannot compensate for weak technical foundations, poor data, unclear positioning, or unhelpful content. Businesses need to combine the right technology with human expertise and a clear strategy.

For me, the most important question isn’t simply “Where can AI make the biggest impact?”

It is “Where can AI solve the biggest marketing gap for this particular business?”

That is where the right investment begins.

Meet the amazing contributors 🙂

Conclusion

The responses show that there is no one-size-fits-all AI investment. The right choice depends on your business, your customers, and where your biggest marketing gap lies.

For me, the growing focus on SEO and AI Search highlights an important shift: businesses now need to think beyond rankings and clicks and consider whether they can be discovered, understood, and recommended by AI.

At Simply Sansu, I help businesses build visibility and authority through SEO, Digital PR, and AI Search strategies.
